Is Claude down? Many users reported issues while accessing the AI assistant

Claude down: Anthropic’s AI chatbot Claude is currently facing a widespread outage affecting the daily routine of many users. According to the current reports, the outage is just not limited to Claude but rather affecting many of Anthropic’s AI models, including the latest Mythos 5, Fable 5 and more. While using the AI tools, users reported error messages, slow replies or no response. Anthropic acknowledged the issue and stated that they have released a fix. The company further added that they are continuously monitoring system recovery. However, many users, including the Digit team, are still facing problems even after the patch has been released. The outage tracking website Downdetector also showed a big increase in reports across the globe.

At the time of writing, Downdetector showed 324 reports in the United States and 306 reports in India, indicating that the outage was not limited to a single region.

Many users said Claude either failed to generate responses or displayed error messages while processing prompts. Others reported that chats were unusually slow or completely unresponsive, making the platform difficult to use for both personal and work-related tasks.

Claude status page says

Anthropic acknowledged the issue on its official status page under an incident titled ‘Degraded performance of multiple models’. According to the company, it first identified the cause of elevated errors affecting Claude Mythos 5, Claude Fable 5, Claude Opus 5, and Claude Sonnet 5.

The AI giant later clarified that its engineers were continuing to work on a fix before posting another update stating that a fix had been deployed and that the team was monitoring the recovery of affected services. Despite this update, several users continued to report problems, suggesting that the recovery was still ongoing for some customers.

Social media reaction

The outage quickly became a trending topic on social media, with users sharing their frustration over interrupted work and studies. One user wrote, ‘Is Claude down for everyone right now, or is it just me? It keeps throwing errors!’ Another posted, ‘Claude, please, I have an exam tomorrow. Of all days, it’s today you decided to shut down.’

Some users also questioned whether the issue had been fully resolved. One post claimed that although Anthropic had marked the incident as resolved, slow chats and API issues were still being reported. While another clarified that he ‘just checked Claude, and it is still down.’ He further added that it has not been working for him for the last 4 hours. suggesting that the disruption continued for some users even after the company’s latest update.
