Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 18 Pro models and its first foldable smartphone on September 9. A new report claims that before the iPhone launch event, the tech giant may introduce a new Mac mini. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, Apple may launch the updated desktop computer “as soon as the coming days.” Apple has reportedly tested the new Mac mini with both M5 and M6 chips.
The new Mac mini would arrive nearly two years after the current model. Apple launched the existing Mac mini with the M4 chip in 2024. The updated Mac mini is expected to benefit from Apple’s newer processors. However, it is not yet clear whether the first version to launch will use the M5 or M6 chip.

The Mac mini has seen strong demand recently. According to the report, one reason is the device’s growing popularity among users who want to run AI applications locally. But, the company has also faced supply problems. Memory chip shortages have reportedly made it hard for Apple to keep the device in stock.
Apple is also preparing several other products. As per Gurman, the company is expected to launch new AirPods 5 “as early as the September product launch event,” which would be an update to its entry-level earbuds. A camera-equipped version of the AirPods is reportedly not coming until next year.

For later this year, the tech giant is also said to be working on a new Apple Watch lineup, a smart home device with a screen, an updated Apple TV and a new HomePod mini. An OLED iPad mini is also reportedly in the works and may arrive by the end of October. Apple is expected to launch more Macs later, including a new iMac and an entry-level MacBook Pro with M6 chips.
The biggest Mac change is expected in the MacBook Pro lineup. Apple is reportedly working on its first touchscreen MacBook Pro, with 14-inch and 16-inch models expected to feature OLED displays and redesigned bodies.
