Fireflies.ai has been working for several years on transforming meetings into searchable notes and actions for more than 20 million people. However, it has recently turned its attention to a trickier matter – emails. The company announced the launch of Email Assistant, an artificial intelligence-powered tool that integrates with Gmail or Outlook and manages the boring part of email management, such as sorting, composing, and responding. This product is now available on all Fireflies’ plans, even on the free one.

The premise is based on a statistic from Microsoft’s 2025 Work Trend Index – the typical knowledge worker receives 117 emails per day. Some people start checking their inbox even before 6 AM and check out until after 10 PM, taking advantage of gaps between meeting schedules. The team behind Fireflies believes that the very same people who use it to keep tabs on their calls are overwhelmed by this exact amount of email, and that is its unique selling proposition.
This is actually what makes Fireflies different from other solutions – not yet another plug-and-play inbox AI assistant. Because the platform already knows all about your meetings, it can draft an email reply for you by drawing upon the information from a call that hasn’t been mentioned in the email conversation at all.

It is quite a usual feature set for such an AI email layer, but all of it is held together by the common thread of context. The Auto Labels feature automatically categorizes new mail without affecting any existing rules or filters. The Auto Draft Replies use the content of the email thread along with your previous meetings with the particular correspondent and write them in the style set out by Custom Writing Instructions; nothing gets sent out automatically without checking first. If the previously sent email has not received a reply in the designated waiting period, then the system will create a Follow-Up in the same thread. The Daily Briefs now include not only meeting and Slack insights but also email insights. Moreover, AskFred – the Fireflies’ natural language assistant – can help you find the relevant email or summarize the thread or take out the action items from there and add a draft email to your inbox.
It looks like the features like Meeting Prep, Tasks, and AI Skills will soon start using the email context.
Fireflies is transitioning its notetaking service into a so-called “AI Work Assistant” by covering all places where work is done via AI. As for the pricing model, Fireflies is trying to compete with independent solutions for AI emails with Pro version priced at ₹955 per seat/month for new customers on the platform.
It remains to be seen whether the meeting to email context will stand the test of practice in case of overlapping and complicated conversations but at least on paper this is a logical next step from a company that is famous for making meetings more tolerable to attend.
