Anthropic’s finance agents: Claude can now build pitchbooks, run KYC, and close the books

Anthropic wishes to alter this limited perception of what an AI assistant can do; for example, when emailing, or writing captions for images to accompany photographs. Recently, the company has introduced 10 templates created expressly for financial services firms that are not just designed for conversations. Within the financial space, these templates will maximize productivity by providing solutions for creating pitches, reviewing KYC files, reconciling general ledger accounts, closing months, and auditing financial statements – all of which are activities that require junior analysts to typically work after midnight.

The templates come packaged either as a plugin to use within Claude Cowork or Claude Code, or as a cookbook for running them in Claude Managed Agents on the Claude Platform. The difference is significant. The first template acts as a sidekick, working alongside the analyst on his or her computer. If you provide the Pitch Builder with a list of targets, you will receive not only a comparables model in Excel and a deck put together in PowerPoint but also a cover letter ready to be sent out in Outlook. In contrast, the second one operates independently on Anthropic’s platform in a deal book or on a daily basis.

Speaking about Microsoft apps, Claude can now operate through Excel, PowerPoint, Word, and Outlook through add-ins, transferring context across these four products such that an analyst who starts with a model in Excel no longer has to explain anything again when switching to a presentation.

The engine underpinning all of this is Claude Opus 4.7, topping Vals AI’s Finance Agent benchmark with 64.37 percent and being the highest-rated model in finance on the said metric.

When it comes to data sources, Anthropic has made some major progress there too: new connectors include Dun & Bradstreet, Verisk, IBISWorld, Guidepoint, Third Bridge, SS&C IntraLinks, Fiscal AI, and Financial Modeling Prep. Furthermore, the company recently launched the MCP app from Moody’s which allows analysts to access their proprietary credit ratings and data on over 600 million public and private businesses within Claude for compliance, credit analysis, and business development purposes.

All of the above mentioned agents are available in Anthropic’s financial services marketplace on GitHub and can be accessed on any paid plan. The support for Excel, PowerPoint, and Word is available, and Outlook will come later on.
