Gustaakh Ishq is a poetic romantic drama set in the nostalgic lanes of Purani Dilli and the quiet charm of Malerkotla, Punjab. The story follows Pappan, a dreamer burdened by past failures, who is determined to revive his father’s dying Urdu press, Mustaqbil. His quest for meaningful literature leads him to Ustaad, a reclusive poet whose lost verses might be the key to saving the press.
Meanwhile, in another thread of the story, Nawabuddin (Vijay Varma) seeks to master the art of shayari under the guidance of Ajiz (Naseeruddin Shah), a legendary Urdu poet. In Ajiz’s home, Nawabuddin meets his daughter (Fatima Sana Shaikh), a school teacher whose presence feels like poetry itself. Their bond deepens over verses and winter tea, until misunderstandings threaten to tear them apart.
With themes of love, sacrifice, and artistic legacy, the film explores what it truly means to love — a person, a passion, or a purpose — and how far one is willing to go to preserve it.
