Dora Movie (2023)

Dora Movie (2022) is a movie about a young, aspiring hairdresser from Colombia living in Queens. She is suddenly faced with grim uncertainties during the pandemic. The film is built around the life of an immigrant woman, who is in an LGBT relationship and is far away from her family. She tries to build a future working as a hairdresser; however, she is forced to make other decisions to survive. She feels increasingly lonely in an already hostile world.
 
Dora and her partner Ernestina are two sensual and delicate figures, who have struggled to realize their dreams. However, their hopes are slowly shattering due to the lack of opportunities. The poignant film is full of the poetry of everyday things, which is enhanced by a refined use of light and black-and-white film. It has a bittersweet ending and builds awareness of the life of people who suffer hardship.
