BSNL Rs 299 vs VI Rs 299 prepaid plan: Validity, data, benefits and more

HIGHLIGHTS

BSNL and Vi both offer a Rs 299 prepaid plan with different benefits.

BSNL gives more daily data and longer validity than Vi.

Vi adds entertainment benefits, while BSNL focuses on data.

The Rs 299 pack has silently emerged as one of the most competitive price points in India’s prepaid market segment. BSNL and Vi are two of the biggest telecom operators in the country, offering a Rs 299 plan which provides a combination of data, voice minutes, and additional benefits. On the surface, the two plans look evenly matched, but a closer look reveals they’re built for different kinds of users altogether. BSNL leans towards more data and validity. While Vi, on the other hand, bundles in an entertainment app, betting that access to movies and shows matters more than extra GB. So if you’re also confused between the two, then here is a clear breakdown of what each plan has to offer.

BSNL Rs 299 prepaid plan

The Rs 299 plan by BSNL provides validity for a period of 30 days and gives customers 3GB data each day, which can be used to enjoy high speeds. Beyond the daily quota, the users will be able to browse at a lower speed of 40 kbps. The plan also provides unlimited local/STD calls on all networks.

In addition, subscribers get 100 SMS per day throughout the validity period. If the daily free benefits are exhausted, voice calls are charged at Rs 1 per minute for local calls and Rs 1.30 per minute for STD calls. Video calls are charged at Rs 2 per minute, while SMS and data usage are billed as per standard rates.

VI Rs 299 prepaid plan

Vi’s Rs 299 plan provides a 28-day validity period with 1 GB of data per day. As with any daily data pack, internet speed reduces to 64Kbps when the daily limit is exhausted. In addition to unlimited voice calls, the pack consists of 100 SMS per day.

The pack includes Vi Movies and TV, giving users the ability to watch movies, TV programmes, live news and other content through the app. It makes the recharge pack a good choice for those users who seek entertainment in addition to their mobile recharge.

Choosing between the BSNL Rs 299 plan and the VI Rs 299 plan depends on what you need most. If you’re someone who is looking out for more data on a daily basis with a longer validity, then BSNL is the best option to go for, as you’ll be getting 3GB of data on a daily basis for 30 days.
