BSNL Rs 2799 vs VI Rs 2249 prepaid plan: Validity, data, benefits and more

HIGHLIGHTS

BSNL and Vi both offer 365-day prepaid plans, but their data and pricing are very different.

BSNL's Rs 2,799 plan includes 3GB daily data, unlimited calls, and 100 SMS per day.

Vi's Rs 2,249 plan is better suited for users who mainly need unlimited calling with limited data.

Are you planning to recharge your prepaid number for a full year? BSNL and Vi are two of the biggest telecom operators in India, and both operators also have annual plans, but they are built for very different kinds of users. BSNL’s Rs 2,799 plan gives you daily data for heavy use, while Vi’s Rs 2,249 plan is a cheaper option with a shared data pool for the year. Here’s a simple breakdown of both plans depending on the validity, benefits and more so you can make an informed decision while selecting between the BSNL Rs 2,799 and VI Rs 2,249 prepaid recharge plans.

BSNL Rs 2,799 prepaid plan

The Rs 2,799 plan by BSNL provides you with the validity of 365 days and 3GB of data per day for an entire year. But once you consume your 3GB data per day, your internet speed reduces to 40Kbps for the remaining part of the day.

Apart from that, you get unlimited talk time to any network and 100 SMS per day for an entire year. The daily cost of the plan comes up to about Rs 7.7 per day. From my perspective, this is not an unreasonable amount to pay for the plan.

Vi Rs 2,249 prepaid plan

When talking about the VI Rs 2,249 plan, it also comes with a validity of 365 days. With this plan you get unlimited calling to any network for an entire year.  Along with that, you also get a total of 3,600 SMS for the entire year.

In terms of data benefits, you get only 30GB of high-speed data, which can be used till the plan validity ends. However, once that 30GB runs out, then the extra data you used is charged at 50 paise per MB. The per day cost of the plan is somewhere around Rs 6.16.

BSNL Rs 2,799 vs VI Rs 2,249: Which one should you choose?

In the end, it all depends on which plan suits your needs the best. If you’re someone who uses mobile data a lot, then it will be wise for you to go for the BSNL plan that will cost you 2,799. In this plan, you get 3 GB of data every day and unlimited calls and SMS in 100 units every day for one whole year. Even though it is more expensive compared to Vi, it also gives you more data.

On the other hand, in case you just want to activate the number with unlimited calling and no mobile data, then you should go for the Vi plan that will cost you 2,249. This is 550 rupees less than the BSNL plan.
