Apple has started sending new threat notifications to users who may have been targeted by mercenary spyware attacks. The tech giant occasionally sends these notifications to warn users that their iPhones, iPads or Macs may have been targeted by spyware, often linked to government. The tech giant told TechCrunch that it sent out the notifications on Thursday to users targeted in 110 countries. If you have also received the alert, do not ignore it. An Apple threat notification can appear directly on your iPhone’s Lock Screen and in Settings. Apple also sends an alert to email addresses linked to your Apple Account.
You can also check for a genuine warning by signing in to your Apple Account at account.apple.com. If Apple has sent you a threat notification, it will appear clearly at the top of the account page.
The company says genuine threat notifications will never ask you to click a link, open an attachment, install an app or profile, or share your Apple Account password or verification code.

Apple recommends taking the warning seriously and following the security guidance provided with it. One important step is to turn on Lockdown Mode. Apple also recommends getting expert help.
