One UI 9 update: South Korean smartphone maker Samsung is now rolling out the One UI 9 update for its latest flagship S series devices, the Galaxy S26, S26 Plus and S26 Ultra. Besides cosmetic changes, the update brings new features, UI improvements and enhanced Galaxy AI. More S series devices and Z series foldables are expected to receive the OTA update in the coming weeks.
For starters, One UI 9 brings a new Lock Screen clock, gesture-based Bixby activation, redesigned Samsung Health and more. Here are all the details that you should know about One UI 9 if you are a Samsung user.
The new My FanCam helps keep the selected person in a video centred by reframing the footage. Generative and Editable Cards within Now Brief will allow users to choose what is displayed in their summaries. Cards can be created across categories such as health, weather and videos to make the daily briefs more relevant.
Plus, ‘Security Brief ’, which notifies users of safety threats, will be displayed within Now Brief. Secondly, Now Nudge can now show “context-aware suggestions” based on your activity, such as extracting reservation details of trips without leaving a conversation.
Creative Studio will now suggest image generation ideas for upcoming events. For instance, creating a greeting for an upcoming birthday. In Interpreter, the new Thread View will enable improved follow-up to previous translated conversations by referencing them. Samsung also said the Conversation Mode will now have faster translation.
Document Scan will get improved capabilities to save digital copies of complicated materials such as curved pages and folded corners and reduce manual intervention. Plus, the utility will also get “large-screen-optimised” views and enhanced Finger Eraser.
Plus, Voice Recorder will now present structured and clearer summaries using headings, tables and more to make the contents easy to grasp. Coming to security-related changes, Privacy Alerts will use on-device AI to check for privacy threats and Scam Detection will expand to more languages and countries.
Other changes include ‘Warranty and Care’ in Settings so that users can check their device’s coverage across linked mobile phones, execute self-diagnostics, check repair prices, manage Samsung Care+ and book service center appointments. Users can now activate Bixby with a gesture,
While we can confirm the rollout of the update on the S26 series, Gizmochina claims the update is also rolling out for the Galaxy S25 series, Galaxy Z Fold 7 and Flip 7. The update is expected to cover the S24 and S23 series, Samsung’s 5th and 6th generation foldables and select Galaxy A, M and F series devices in the coming months.
Samsung Galaxy users can head to ‘Settings’ and check for ‘Software updates’ and tap ‘Download and install’ if the update is available on their device.
