Motorola has officially given a first look at the Motorola Signature 27 at Qualcomm’s Snapdragon Summit in Hawaii. Positioned as a flagship, the device is one of the world’s first announced smartphone powered by Qualcomm’s newly unveiled Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6 processor. And, it looks like a serious competitor to ultra flagship phones from Samsung and Apple. This might also mark Motorola’s big and long pending comeback in the flagship category, if the phone is priced well.
OnePlus’s recent struggles, combined by major cut down in Realme, iQOO and Nothing, leaves a big void in the flagship category which provides a fresh opportunity for Motorola. And, they seemed to have done a good job with Signature 27, at least on paper.
Powered by the 2nm Snapdragon 8 Elite Extreme Gen 6, the Signature 27 introduces an “ArcticMesh” cooling system. To tame thermal output during high-end AI, gaming, and 8K video processing, it combines diamond-infused thermal gel, liquid metal, copper mesh, and a 3D vapor chamber.

Leaving traditional camera bumps behind, the back panel features a clustered multi-sensor layout. Imaging hardware includes a 50-megapixel Sony LYTIA 910 main sensor alongside a 200-megapixel periscope telephoto lens, directly competing with camera-centric flagships like Xiaomi’s Ultra series.
Marking the first fruits of a multi-year partnership, the device features sound tuned by B&O, complete with prominent branding on the chassis. Motorola is matching top-tier industry standards set by Google and Samsung by committing to 7 years of Android OS upgrades and security patches.
The phone will continue to borrow from company’s design philosophy in recent years with clear focus on textured finishes. It will come in two options: PANTONE Coal Smoke(automotive-inspired woven grip) and PANTONE Capulet Green (fashion-inspired brushed finish).
Apart from Motorola, Xiaomi also showcased their new Xiaomi 18 Pro series which will be powered by the same platform. It also confirmed that these will be the first phones in the world to launch with Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen 6 lineup.
