Apple has recently raised prices across several product categories, including Macs, iPads, and other devices in India. The company also increased iPhone prices in Japan, and a similar move for India might not be far away. There are several reports suggesting that the iPhone 17 series may also get a price hike over the next few weeks. The same has been suggested to Digit by multiple sources.
Tipster Abhishek Yadav has also previously suggested that Apple has informed select iPlanet dealers that the iPhone 17 could start at Rs 94,990 in India, which is a Rs 12,000 increase over its launch price of Rs 82,990.
He mentioned that iPhone 17 Pro and iPhone 17 Pro Max could see similar price revisions and that Apple has informed its supply chain that fresh iPhone stocks will reach dealers by next weekend, even as supply remains disrupted across the country.
According to anonymous employees at Croma and Vijay Sales, Apple will announce the price hike on the iPhone 17 series during the first week of August.
Based on the current launch prices and the expected increase shared by retail sources, the revised pricing could look like this.
| Model | Current launch price | Price after 10% hike (Expected) | Price after 12% hike (Expected) |
| iPhone 17 | Rs 82,900 | Rs 91,190 | Rs 92,848 |
| iPhone 17 Pro | Rs 1,34,900 | Rs 1,48,390 | Rs 1,51,088 |
| iPhone 17 Pro Max | Rs 1,49,900 | Rs 1,64,890 | Rs 1,67,888 |
Note: These are estimated prices based on a 10 to 12 per cent increase. Apple has not announced revised prices at the time of writing.
The retail employees also said there has been no communication regarding a price increase for older iPhone generations. However, they believe Apple could revise prices for previous models as well once the latest lineup becomes more expensive. At present, the expectation is based on retail discussions rather than any official communication from Apple.

Interestingly, the same sources do not expect the iPhone Air to receive a similar price revision. According to the employees, demand for the smartphone has remained below expectations, prompting retailers to maintain limited inventory.
Instead of increasing its price, they believe Apple could position the device aggressively during the upcoming Independence Day sale with sizeable discounts to improve sales. If that happens, the iPhone Air could become one of the most attractive offers in Apple’s portfolio during the festive shopping season.
Speaking to Digit about the expected Apple iPhone 17 series price hike, Kailash Lakhyani, president of the Organised Retailers Association and founder chairman of AIMRA, said that any potential increase is likely to be driven by Apple’s global pricing strategy rather than India-specific supply constraints.
Moreover, while highlighting Apple’s recent pricing moves, Lakhyani added, “We have already seen Apple adjust hardware pricing in international markets such as Japan, along with upward price recalibrations across MacBooks, iPads, and Apple TV models.”
He said these developments suggest that any iPhone 17 price revision would be part of Apple’s broader global pricing approach rather than a response to conditions in the Indian market.

Irrespective of what the retailers may say, a price hike is only inevitable looking at the global trends and current market scenario. Apple has traditionally reduced the prices of older iPhone models after launching its new iPhones, which usually land in September. However, the trend may change this year, making this the best time to buy an iPhone 17 model.
