Apple is said to be planning for a massive redesign for its iPhone lineup in 2027. As per the new leak, the company may offer a more immersive display on the company’s next-generation Pro models. The panels may feature curved edges on all four sides and a punch-hole cutout, potentially marking a departure from the Dynamic Island.
According to tipster Digital Chat Station, Apple is testing display panels that can be used on the iPhone 20 Pro and iPhone 20 Pro Max. The information was shared on Weibo, although Apple has not confirmed any details about its future iPhone models.
The device comes with a smaller Pro model that is reportedly being tested with a 6.41-inch display offering a resolution of 2,686 x 1,236 pixels. The iPhone 20 Pro Max, meanwhile, could feature a significantly larger 6.96-inch screen with a 2,912 x 1,340 pixel resolution.

For context, the iPhone 18 Pro has a 6.3-inch display with a 2,622 x 1,206 resolution, while the iPhone 18 Pro Max comes with a 6.9-inch panel at 2,868 x 1,320 pixels. The reported iPhone 20 Pro panels would therefore be slightly larger while retaining a similar pixel density.
The more interesting part of the leak is the reported design of the display. Digital Chat Station claims Apple’s test panels have a borderless appearance with curvature extending across all four edges. A punch-hole cutout is also said to be part of the design.
If true, this can be a major change to how the Dynamic Island is currently used on Apple’s Pro iPhones. However, it remains unclear whether the punch-hole would house only the front camera or whether Apple has another approach planned for Face ID.
The previous reports have suggested that Apple has been planning to bring four-sided curved OLED panels with Samsung, including designs that can reduce or eliminate the need for a polariser layer. Apple and its display suppliers have also reportedly been working on reducing brightness and other visual issues around curved edges.
The reported redesign is expected to be associated with Apple’s 2027 iPhone lineup, which will mark two decades since the original iPhone launched in 2007. Apple is widely expected to use the anniversary as an opportunity to introduce a more substantial design change, although the final branding remains unknown.
Some earlier reports have referred to the 2027 models as the iPhone 19, while others have suggested Apple might adopt a different name for its 20th-anniversary device. However, these are just early leaks and are yet to be confirmed.
