Apple is currently preparing to host its Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) 2026, where the company is expected to unveil iOS 27 along with the long-delayed Siri AI upgrade. Ahead of the conference, a new leak has revealed that some older iPhone models may not support the upcoming iOS 27 update. According to Apple leaker on Weibo, iOS 27 is expected to support the iPhone 12 series and newer models. If this information turns out to be accurate, Apple may end software support for several older iPhones.

The devices that may miss out on the iOS 27 update include:

  • iPhone 11
  • iPhone 11 Pro
  • iPhone 11 Pro Max
  • iPhone SE (2nd generation)

Users of these devices should note that Apple is still expected to provide security updates for iOS 26 for the next few years. The leaked compatibility list suggests that iOS 27 will be available on the following devices:

  • iPhone 12 series
  • iPhone 13 series
  • iPhone 14 series
  • iPhone 15 series
  • iPhone 16 series
  • iPhone 17 series
  • iPhone SE (3rd generation)

One of the biggest announcements at WWDC 2026 is expected to be Apple’s new Siri experience. Reports suggest that the upgraded Siri will use Apple Intelligence to better understand a user’s personal context and on-screen content.

However, not all compatible iPhones may get access to Siri AI overhaul. The new Siri is expected to require Apple Intelligence support, which is currently available only on the iPhone 15 Pro, iPhone 15 Pro Max, and newer models. This means older devices that can run iOS 27 may still miss out on some of the most powerful AI capabilities.
