It has been almost two years since we saw a new laptop from Microsoft and there is no word from the company yet about the same. However, leaks around the same have started surfacing (pun intended). According to a recent report Notebookcheck, a refreshed Microsoft Surface Pro 12 and a new Microsoft Surface Laptop 8 have been spotted in Geekbench listing. The Surface Pro 12 is expected to stick to its thin and light 2-in-1 design, with upgrades showing up internally. Reports also suggest that the laptop could launch with Intel Core Ultra 5 325 and Core Ultra 5 335 chips. Both are eight core processors, with only a minor difference in clock speed.
Another big upgrade expected is in terms of RAM, which could go up to 32GB this time. Multiple Geekbench entries also suggest that Microsoft may offer several configurations instead of limiting users to just one or two variants.
Coming to the Surface Laptop 8, it is also expected to stick to its familiar design language. Once again, the laptop can come with both 13 inch and 15 inch models. Moreover, the device could feature more powerful options like the Intel Core Ultra X7 368H paired with Intel Arc B390 graphics, alongside a slightly toned down Core Ultra 7 366H variant. The laptop is also expected to use LPDDR5 RAM, going up to 32GB.
As of now, Microsoft has not teased or confirmed any of these devices. However, they might come sooner than you think. German publication WinFuture said in a previous report that the devices could come as soon as this month. However, nothing has been confirmed yet so it is wise to take this information with a dash of salt.
In addition to this, a leaked Geekbench listing was also reported which shows a single core score of 2,833 and a multi core score of 16,368 for the Surface Laptop 8. And this points to a noticeable jump over previous generation models. So if we really are getting a new Surface laptop soon, it will be exciting to see how it performs in the real world tests. Keep watching this space for more updates about the same.
