Union Minister for Information and Broadcasting, Railways, Electronics and Information Technology, Ashwini Vaishnaw, has announced that he is shifting to Zoho, a homegrown platform for documents, spreadsheets and presentations. He encouraged everyone to support “Swadeshi” products and services.
In a post on X, Vaishnaw said, “I am moving to Zoho – our own Swadeshi platform for documents, spreadsheets & presentations.” He also urged others to follow Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for Swadeshi and adopt indigenous products and services.
Responding to the announcement, Zoho founder Sridhar Vembu expressed his gratitude, saying, “This is a huge morale boost for our engineers who have worked hard for over two decades to build our product suite. We will make you proud and make our nation proud. Jai Hind”

Zoho Corporation is a software-as-a-service (SaaS) company founded in 1996 by Sridhar Vembu and Tony Thomas. It is headquarterd in Chennai and offers more than 55 cloud-based tools for businesses. These tools cover a wide range of functions, including email, accounting, HR, project management, and more.
Though Zoho is incorporated in the United States, it has a strong “Made in India” ethos and continues to run major operations from rural Tamil Nadu.

Zoho provides a variety of productivity tools that are grouped under Zoho Workplace and Zoho Office Suite. Many of these tools can also be used individually. They directly compete with popular platforms such as Microsoft Office 365 and Google Workspace.
Zoho’s popular productivity apps include Zoho Writer, Zoho Sheet, Zoho Show, Zoho Notebook, Zoho WorkDrive, Zoho Mail, Zoho Meeting, and Zoho Calendar.
Vaishnaw’s shift to Zoho has set an example for adopting homegrown solutions, promoting a swadeshi approach in technology.
