LG Electronics has entered the chest freezer market in India with a new range aimed at commercial users across retail, HoReCa, dairy, ice cream, pharmaceutical and food storage businesses. The range includes six models spanning 102L to 530L, starting at Rs 28,990. Specifications and features

The biggest distinction within the range is between the PRO and PLUS series. The PRO models offer one-touch convertible operation, allowing users to switch between cooling and deep-freezing. They support a temperature range of -31°C to +10°C. The PRO range also gets Ultra Freeze for rapid cooling, digital temperature control and a digital temperature display.

This makes the PRO models more flexible for businesses whose storage requirements change. For example, a business can use the appliance for deep-freezing when storing frozen products and switch to a higher-temperature cooling mode when its requirements change. The key benefit is that one appliance can serve different storage requirements instead of requiring separate cooling and freezing equipment.

The PLUS models are simpler. They use knob-based temperature control and have a temperature range of -25°C to +5°C. The 315L and 530L PLUS models carry 4-star BEE ratings.

Energy efficiency varies by model. The 315L PRO and 530L PRO are rated 5-star under the 2026 BEE rating system. The 205L PRO is rated 4-star, while the 102L PRO carries a 3-star rating. The range therefore does not offer the same energy rating across all models.

LG has also focused on insulation. The chest freezers use a 70mm PUF-insulated cabinet, a 75mm insulated door and a 100mm insulated mid-section. According to LG, this insulation is intended to improve temperature retention and cooling efficiency.

For commercial environments, the range gets a UV-protected body, flushed locks, pocket handles and removable gaskets. Castor wheels with brakes make the units easier to move while allowing them to be secured in place. LED lighting and premium baskets are also included to improve visibility and organisation inside the freezer.

What’s new

So this launch is pitched towards businesses that often need dedicated cold storage. LG is positioning the chest freezers around flexibility, energy efficiency, durability and ease of operation rather than just frozen storage capacity.

For buyers, the choice between the two series will largely depend on how the chest freezer will be used. The PLUS models are focused on straightforward cooling and freezing, while the PRO models cost more but add temperature flexibility, digital controls and Ultra Freeze. The 315L and 530L PRO models also carry the highest 5-star BEE rating in the new range.
