Google seems to be quietly rolling out a new AI-driven feature for Android users. The new feature is called contextual suggestions and aims to make smartphones more proactive based on the user’s daily routines and habits. The feature was recently spotted on a few select Android devices, as per reports from Android Authority.
The new system is designed to anticipate actions users may want to perform depending on the location, schedule or repeated behaviour patterns. For example, Android may automatically suggest opening a preferred music playlist when a user arrives at the gym or prompt casting sports content to a TV at a time when the user usually watches matches.

The feature was previously limited to beta versions of Google Play Services, but reports suggest it is now appearing on stable Android builds, specifically on devices in the Google Pixel 10 lineup running Android 16. It also appears to be enabled by default for some users.
The company has not officially announced the wider rollout yet. However, screenshots shared online state that users can control how much information the feature can access, including the ability to disable location-based suggestions.
As per the description in the Settings, the AI system processes information locally within what Google describes as an encrypted space on the device. The company also stated that the collected data will not be shared with Google servers, apps, or third-party services.
The feature also seems to share similarities with Magic Cue, another AI feature introduced with the Pixel 10 series. It offers predictive suggestions such as addresses, contact details, or copied information that the user may want to paste into conversations or apps.
Do note that the details remain unclear whether contextual suggestions will expand to Android devices beyond Pixel smartphones. A support document reportedly mentions that Android 14 or newer is required for some casting-related functionality. The users who want to check whether the feature is available on their phones can reportedly navigate to Settings > Google Services > All Services > Other on supported Android devices.
