Samsung may be developing its first Galaxy over-ear headphones to rival AirPods Max

Samsung is the major rival Apple has on the Android side. There is a Samsung alternative for almost every Apple product, except the AirPods Max. But, according to a new report, the South Korean giant could be preparing to enter the premium over-ear headphone market with a new pair of wireless headphones. This is said to have the internal codename ‘Galaxy H1’, although the company has not confirmed the product or its launch plans. Samsung fans or anyone interested in an AirPods Max rival, read on for everything we know about the Galaxy headphones for now.

Samsung Galaxy headphones: what we know

The report, published by SamMobile, claims that code found in the latest Galaxy Wearable app includes references to a full-sized wireless headphone product. The app has graphics and some other connection-related assets that point towards a device that would be managed through Samsung’s wearable ecosystem.

If the product eventually launches, it would mark a significant expansion of Samsung’s Galaxy audio range. The company already has Galaxy-branded TWS range, and it also owns JBL, AKG, Harmon Kardon and other audio brands through HARMAN. It can draw upon these established brands.

That said, there is no hint towards Samsung using technologies from its sister concerns in this Galaxy H1 device.

A modern over-ear headphones would be expected to feature Adaptive Noise Cancellation (ANC), ambient or transparency mode, Bluetooth 6.0 connectivity, and Multipoint support. The company could also add in its high-bitrate SSC UHQ audio codec and Galaxy AI integration. Let’s see.

Things like the driver design and tuning could also impact the audio quality from this new pair.

And the overall value could also come from the Galaxy ecosystem benefits like Auto Switch, which can move connections between compatible Galaxy smartphones, tablets, Galaxy Books and watches.

Samsung Galaxy headphones: Expected launch timeline

The reported timeline suggests that Samsung could launch the headphones in early 2027. If true, it could potentially come alongside other Galaxy products.

And since we have already seen Galaxy H1 trademark along with Galaxy H3 and Galaxy H5 years ago but none of these have realised into an actual product, we won’t raise our hopes again.

Let’s wait for confirmation from Samsung’s end or anything more concrete from the rumour mill.
