Amazon has launched two new smart speakers in India, the Echo Dot Max and the new Echo Studio, after their debut during the Amazon Devices Event 2025. Both the smart speakers bring upgraded audio hardware and are powered by a new custom silicon platform with expanded smart home capabilities to the Echo lineup. Amazon is positioning the Echo Dot Max as its flagship Echo Dot while the new Echo Studio is a fully revamped version of its existing premium speaker that launched in India back in 2019.
The Echo Dot Max introduces the first-ever two-way speaker system in the Echo Dot lineup and is powered by Amazon’s custom AZ3 silicon. It pairs a high-excursion woofer tuned for deep bass with a custom tweeter handling the high-frequency end, delivering what Amazon claims is nearly 3x the bass output of the Echo Dot (5th Gen). It has got double the air space compared to the previous generation, which Amazon says improves the efficiency of bass generation rather than simply increasing volume.
The Echo Dot Max also brings built-in room adaptation which means that the speaker analyses the acoustics of its environment and fine-tunes playback automatically. The Echo Dot Max also marks a first for the Echo Dot line as it is the first model to include a built-in smart home hub, supporting Wi-Fi, Zigbee, Thread, Matter and Bluetooth out of the box.
The Echo Dot Max is available in three colours: Graphite, Amethyst and Glacier White.
The new Echo Studio has been redesigned into a compact spherical form factor with a 3D knit fabric exterior, which Amazon says maintains acoustic transparency while giving the speaker a more modern look. It combines a high-excursion woofer for bass with three full-range drivers placed to project sound around the room.
The Echo Studio supports Dolby Atmos and room-adapting spatial audio, which analyses the room’s acoustics and adjusts output accordingly. It is powered by the AZ3 Pro chip which Amazon says improves Alexa’s wake-word detection accuracy by nearly 50% and enables better conversation detection. Like the Echo Dot Max, it includes a built-in smart home hub with the same connectivity protocol support.
In addition, up to five Echo Studio or Echo Dot Max units can be connected together and either speaker can be paired with compatible Fire TV devices to set up an Alexa Home Theatre system. Both speakers also support multi-room music playback across multiple Echo devices. Supported streaming services include Amazon Music, Apple Music, Spotify, JioSaavn and Audible.
The Echo Studio is available in Graphite and Glacier White.
The Echo Dot Max is priced at Rs 10,999 and the Echo Studio at Rs 23,999. Both are available on Amazon.in and Flipkart. Amazon Prime members can earn 5% cashback on purchases made via the Amazon Pay ICICI Bank credit card, along with free pan-India delivery. Both devices are also designed to be compatible with Alexa+, Amazon’s generative AI-powered assistant, once it becomes available in India.
