YouTube Music new features: Video streaming platform YouTube announced new AI features for its Music service at its Made On YouTube 2026 event. The changes, as YouTube explains, can help listeners explore their favourite songs, artists and podcasts better.

According to the platform’s data, Music users discovered new artists over 450 million times in July this year. The two new AI features, Ask Music and Your Podcast Lineup, will be available in the YouTube Music app. Here are more details about these features.

Ask Music

The AI feature will bring a conversational experience to songs and podcast discovery. With the feature, users can converse with the platform in natural language and explore content across podcasts, 300+ million songs, including remixes, live performances, studio recordings, DJ sets and cover music.

This feature lets users type out their song requests, similar to a quick chat with a friend. Plus, it will let users customise their queue or “dive deep into artist lore”.

Your Podcast Lineup

The feature for YouTube Premium and Music subscribers can serve as a “personalised AI-audio guide” that can give a verbal preview of recommended shows on a weekly basis. Further, it can dig into the reasoning why the listener may like a show before suggesting the episodes.

These two features are marked as “coming soon” for YouTube Music and Premium users in YouTube’s official blog post.

YouTube Premium plans price and benefits

YouTube Premium Individual plan starts at Rs 149 per month. Other plans include Rs 299 per month for family and Rs 219 per month for two people. The monthly student plan starts at Rs 89 per month.

YouTube Premium benefits include unlimited ad-free videos and offline content downloads. Plus, users can play videos in the background. Other notable features include picture-in-picture, Jump ahead, Continue watching, enhanced 1080p bitrate, richer 256kbps audio, Smart downloads and more. Meanwhile, the company also unveiled a host of other creator-focused announcements at its Made On YouTube event.
