How to watch Netflix with your friends in 2020

Aah, the joys of binging a new season of Dark with friends while debating the flaws of time travel or watching a murder mystery wondering who the killer is? It feels like such a long time ago that we sat down and watched a movie or TV show with friends. Netflix has been keeping us entertained by releasing new seasons of shows like Dark and Umbrella Academy along with some exciting movies like Raat Akeli Hai and Gunjan Saxena: the Kargil Girl. But with all this new content coming to the streaming platform, one yearns for the days when friends can join in on the weekend binge marathon. Well, if you are one that's sitting at home due to the ongoing pandemic and wishes to watch Netflix with friends, then there is good news for you. You can binge  Netflix with friends whilst maintaining social distancing. You can easily do so using Netflix Party, a new way to watch Netflix together, and we are going to tell you how to do this. 

How to Download

• Open Chrome on your laptop or desktop
• Head to Netflix Party
• Click on ‘Install Netflix Party’ in the top right corner.
• You will be taken to a new webpage. Click on ‘Add to Chrome’ and then ‘Add Extension’. This will add Netflix Party as a Chrome extension.
• You can access your Chrome extensions by accessing the ‘Jigsaw’ icon in your Chrome taskbar.

How to set up a Party 

• Open Chrome on your laptop or desktop.
• Head to Netflix and choose the movie or TV show you and your friends wish to watch.
• Click on the Netflix Party Chrome extension by clicking on the ‘Jigsaw’ icon in your Chrome taskbar.
• Click on ‘Start the Party’. This should generate a shareable link to your Netflix Party.
• Share the link with your friends and start whenever you are ready.
• You can also chat with each other and discuss theories in the chatbox on the right.

How to join a Netflix Party

• Get the shareable link of the Netflix Party from your friend.
• Open the link in Chrome on your desktop or laptop
• Make sure you have the Netflix Party Chrome extension installed
• Click on the Netflix Party Chrome extension by accessing the ‘Jigsaw’ icon in your Chrome taskbar.
• Start whenever you are ready.
• You can also chat with each other and discuss theories in the chatbox on the right.
