Raas is an upcoming Bengali film directed by Tathagata Mukherjee. Raas is a poignant tale of rediscovery, heritage, and healing, set against the vibrant backdrop of rural Bengal. The story follows Somnath, a successful but emotionally distant young man raised in isolation after his father, Rajat, severed ties with their ancestral home in Manikpur following a family tragedy.
Years later, Somnath stumbles upon old letters that rekindle a forgotten connection to his roots. Drawn back to Manikpur during the grand Raas festival, he finds himself amidst a sprawling joint family he barely remembers, and a culture he had long left behind.
As the festival unfolds, Somnath reconnects with his childhood friend Rai, rediscovers the warmth of his grandmother’s love, and begins to heal the wounds of the past. Through laughter, rituals, and shared memories, Raas becomes a celebration of identity, belonging, and the enduring power of family.
