Modha Rathri Movie (2026)

Modha Rathri is a Tamil comedy drama centred on Maruthanayagam “Maruthu” and Muthuselvi, two near-strangers pressured into an arranged marriage by their families and rigid village traditions. Maruthu has recently returned after spending several years working in Dubai, while Muthuselvi enters the marriage carrying the pain of a broken relationship. Neither truly wants the wedding, but both feel powerless against their families’ expectations.

On their wedding night, an unexpected confession prompts the newlyweds to flee the celebrations, sending their anxious families into complete chaos. As relatives pursue them and carefully concealed lies begin to unravel, the night turns into a wildly unpredictable journey filled with misunderstandings, revelations and emotional encounters. Amid the confusion, Maruthu and Muthuselvi gradually discover an unusual connection that could transform a marriage born from pressure into an unexpected second chance.
