Luca is the tale of an artist who enjoys his eccentricities and lives in a charming home-turned-studio where he crafts beauty out of paper and scrap. The story forms around a young girl who enters his quirky world and finds a home in him. Parallel to this is the story of Akbar, a cop caught up in marital strife, a man reluctant to let go of the past and make peace with the present. The plot unfolds through his investigation as viewers are introduced to Luca's and his beloved's inner conflict.
Arun Bose, who co-wrote and directed the film, creates the perfect atmosphere for both narratives, but the emphasis is primarily on the Luca-Niharika track. Tovino Thomas and Ahaana Krishna effortlessly capture that informal connection brimming with love and friendship on screen.

2. When asked why he chose Luca as the film's title, Casarosa said that he based the film on his friendship with his childhood friend, Alberto, but he couldn't just use his name (Enrico) and chose "Luca" because it's simple, and "is pronounced well in America too."
3. The kites that Luca and Giulia fly with are the same design that Leonardo Da Vinci used for his unbuilt flying apparatus, a theoretical precursor to the modern airplane.
