Badhaai Do is an comedy-drama movie about a couple in a lavender marriage. The trailer shows a gay policeman getting married to a lesbian PT teacher, who just want to ‘settle down’ just to get their parents off their backs. The film explorers the concept of lavender marriages in India which is used to describe a marriage between a man and a woman where both parties are homosexual. These parties are usually assumed to be complicit in a public deception to hide their homosexuality. The main characters Shardul Thakur and Suman Singh enter into a marriage of convenience, however, complete chaos ensues when her girlfriend comes to stay with them. Badhaai Do addresses the unusual relationship and tells their story through a comedy of error situations.
They enter into a marriage of convenience and decide to live as roommates which leads to humorous situations between the couple, which makes it a perfect family entertainer. The movie is not only high on comedy and emotions but has a lot of family drama that deals with a socially relevant subject. The movie has a quirky storyline with a marriage scene and of course a baby. It is definitely a must-watch.
