The water purifier market in India has looked largely the same for two decades: a white plastic box mounted on a wall above the sink, a standard tap on one side and a storage tank below. The engineering inside has improved steadily but the form factor has not. Boon Tap is an under-sink RO purifier with the filtration unit hidden below the counter and a precision-milled stainless steel tap as the only visible element above it. The system is built on UltraOsmosis, Boon’s own commercial-grade filtration platform: the same technology currently used across more than 400 hotels and 4,000 organisations in nine countries, including properties from the Oberoi and Aman groups. The core idea is that filtration built to handle the throughput demands of a commercial kitchen, adapted for a single home, is a fundamentally different product from a purifier designed for occasional residential use. In practice, that claim holds up. But it is not the engineering that makes Boon Tap interesting to most buyers but the fact that the engineering is invisible.
Visually, the tap is the product. It comes in three finishes: Gunmetal Grey (the default), Matte Black and Soul Silver, all machined from SS 304 stainless steel and finished without plating. The spout stands 35 cm above the counter, which is taller than most kitchen taps: a full one-litre bottle stands upright under it without tilting. The base is weighted and stays planted. A 360-degree swivel covers the full width of the sink.
Below the counter, the purification unit has a glass-front panel, a slim profile, and a colour-coded LED alert bar with a live TDS digit display. It installs inside a standard sink cabinet or wall-mounts where cabinet space is limited. Once it is in, the only interaction required is with the tap above or, increasingly, with the WaterAI app on your phone.
The RO variant routes water through five filters in sequence: the InletShield pre-filter (grooved surface, 5 microns), the ProFlow sediment filter (ridged casing, holds significantly more sediment before choking than a standard smooth-surface PP filter), the CarbonCorrect carbon stage (chlorine and chemical taste), the CoreRO membrane (handles input TDS up to 2000 ppm), and the UV ProGlow stage (a mirrored chamber that reflects UV wall-to-wall rather than running a bare lamp in a tank). All five are designed and manufactured in-house across seven patents.
After filtration, minerals are re-introduced through natural mineral stones rather than factory-pressed pellets and the dose is adjustable through three Water Profiles: Active (3x minerals), Daily (2x minerals, the default) and Bev (1x minerals, tuned for tea and coffee). Each profile fully RO-filters the water first, then doses minerals after so the blend is never mixed before filtration.
We ran the Boon Tap RO through our standard water purifier test suite on input water measuring 497 ppm TDS, which is representative of medium-to-hard water conditions common across many Indian cities.

The TDS reduction from 497 to 25 ppm is exactly what the system is supposed to do and it does it cleanly. The more important figure for most buyers is the recovery rate. Standard home ROs typically waste two to three litres for every litre purified, a recovery rate of around 25–33%. The Boon Tap RO delivered a 1:1 ratio in our testing, meaning 50% of input water is purified rather than drained. Boon claims up to 30% lower water wastage than a standard membrane and our test results show the system performing better than that claim. The 26.4 litres of purified water per hour is more than sufficient for a household’s combined drinking and cooking needs.
The WaterAI app for iOS and Android connects to the unit via WiFi or Bluetooth and shows live TDS, temperature, flow rate and filter health. Predictive alerts flag when filters are due before they affect water quality rather than after. Automatic care routines run flush cycles on a schedule (Auto, BabySafe or Away mode when you travel) without manual input. Water profile switching happens in the app. For a product whose defining feature is being invisible, the software gives you more insight into what is happening inside the system than any wall-mounted purifier with an LED counter can.
The RO variant at Rs 20,990 targets borewell and high-TDS water. The UF variant at Rs 18,500 is designed for municipal water supply, skipping the RO membrane to preserve naturally occurring minerals. Both come with free installation by certified technicians and a two-year warranty. Filter replacements are charged as needed post-warranty, with no mandatory AMC.
Three tap finishes are available at no additional cost. The unit ships with a pre-filter included.
The Boon Tap argues that your water purifier does not need to be the most conspicuous object in your kitchen and that commercial-grade filtration rebuilt for residential use produces a meaningfully better product than what the home RO category typically offers. Our testing supports the filtration claim. The 95% TDS reduction and 50% recovery rate are both strong results for an under-sink RO in this price range and the five-stage UltraOsmosis platform is engineering that holds up to scrutiny. The WaterAI app is useful rather than gimmicky and the tap itself is well-made object that earns its place above the counter.
At Rs 20,990 for the RO variant, this is priced above the standard home purifier but below where you would expect to pay for commercial-grade components with this level of software integration and design attention. For a buyer building a kitchen with some care, it is the most complete answer to the water purification question currently available in this category.
