During its 48th Annual General Meeting (AGM), Reliance unveiled its AI-powered smart glasses JioFrames. Announcing the glasses, Reliance’s Non-Executive Director Akash Ambani said, “JioFrames is an AI-powered wearable platform and ecosystem, made for India.” “With support for multiple Indian languages at launch, you can simply speak to Jio’s multilingual AI voice assistant.”
Ambani described JioFrames as a hands-free companion designed especially for Indian users. “It’s a hands-free AI-powered companion designed for the way India lives, works, and plays,” he said.
The JioFrames are equipped with a range of features. The glasses can capture HD photos, record videos, and even let you livestream on social media platforms. All the pictures and videos that you captured are automatically saved on Jio AI Cloud.
For entertainment and productivity, the eyewear comes with in-built open-ear speakers. This means users can take work calls, listen to music or enjoy podcasts, all without needing separate headphones. The glasses can provide instant answers and guidance using AI. For example, if someone is cooking, the device can offer step-by-step instructions. If a person is reading, the glasses can summarise the book for them.
The focus on multiple Indian languages also suggests that the company wants these glasses to be useful across India’s diverse population. It’s important to note that Reliance has not yet revealed details about the pricing or availability of JioFrames.
