A few months after its global debut, Google appears to be ready to launch the Fitbit Air in India soon. At the Pixel 11 launch event, the company has reportedly revealed to India Today Tech that the Fitbit device will release in October. This would bring a screenless fitness tracker like the Whoop to users who want continuous health and fitness tracking without wearing a smartwatch. And interestingly, the Fitbit Air comes without any mandatory hardware subscription.
Google confirmed the October launch timeline during the Pixel 11 launch event in India. The company has not shared an exact launch date or India pricing yet.
As screenless wearables are trending now, the Fitbit Air’s entry would bring a proven brand to this space. And unlike a conventional smartwatch, it does not have a display, apps or notifications. Instead, the device is designed to collect health and fitness data in the background, with users viewing the information through the Google Health app.

Fitbit Air weighs 12 grams with the band attached and is designed to be worn throughout the day and night. It continuously tracks heart rate and sleep, including sleep stages and Sleep Scores. It also provides heart rate variability (HRV), steps, distance, readiness scores and weekly cardio load.
You also get automatic workout detection with support for more than 140 activities, including walking, running, cycling, rowing and gym workouts.
Google also claims that the device features up to 15% improved tracking accuracy compared to preceding health devices from the brand.
The Fitbit Air also includes a Smart Wake feature that uses vibration to wake the user at a more suitable point in the sleep cycle.
Google has replaced the Fitbit app with the Google Health app. The app uses four main sections: Today, Fitness, Sleep and Health. It also comes with Gemini-powered Google Health Coach, which provides personalised fitness plans, recovery suggestions and sleep guidance based on the user’s data.
The basic health tracking experience does not require a subscription.
However, Google Health Premium provides access to the Health Coach and other advanced features. Fitbit Air includes a three-month trial of Google Health Premium in markets where it is available. The Premium plan is priced at $9.99 per month or $99 per year in the US.
Google has not announced the Fitbit Air’s India price. In the US, the standard model starts at $99.99, while the Stephen Curry Special Edition costs $129.99.
If you specifically want a screenless tracker with simple continuous health monitoring, it makes sense to wait for the official India launch.
