Nubia Red Magic 3 gaming-centric smartphone to launch in India next month.

The handset runs on Snapdragon 855 and features a 90Hz 6.65-inch FHD+ AMOLED display.

Digit has learned that the phone’s 6GB RAM variants will not be made available in India or any other markets outside of China.

Late last year, Nubia announced its Nubia Red Magic gaming smartphone in India and it is now gearing up to launch the new Nubia Red Magic 3 in the country. The latter smartphone was slated to launch this month, but it clearly didn’t happen. However, the company has now announced that the Nubia Red Magic 3 will be launched in India by mid-June 2019. The Nubia Alpha wearable smartphone and the truly-wireless Nubia Pods earphones are also expected to be announced alongside the upcoming smartphone. The Nubia Red Magic 3 smartphone was announced in 6GB, 8GB and 12GB RAM versions in China. However, Digit has exclusively learned that the phone’s 6GB RAM model is China-exclusive and will not make it to India or other global markets.

Nubia Red Magic 3 specifications and features

We already know the complete specs of the Nubia Red Magic 3 as it has been launched in China. The design is similar to its predecessor with a hexagon shaped rear-mounted fingerprint sensor and a geeked out rear-panel. It features liquid cooling to keep temperatures in check during intense gaming sessions and is also equipped with an active fan cooling system. This system is said to consume low power of about 1 percent when running continuously for an hour. The fan’s speed is also adjustable and is touted to reach a max speed of 14000 rpm.

The gaming-centric smartphone sports a 6.65-inch FHD+ HDR AMOLED display with a 90Hz refresh rate, which sports a 19.5:9 aspect ratio. The display supports HDR playback as well. It runs on the latest Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 SoC, and comes with up to 12GB RAM and up to 256GB of internal storage. It packs a 5000mAh battery that supports 27W fast charging and runs on Redmagic OS 2.0, which is based on Android 9 Pie. The phone also features a software dashboard called “Red Magic Game Space 2.0”, which sports shortcuts to tweak the fan speed and quick-launch games. There are two touch-enabled shoulder trigger buttons, similar to the ROG gaming phone, which can be customised and mapped as per user's requirement.

In terms of optics, the smartphone features a single 48MP rear-camera that utilises Sony IMX586 sensor. It is paired with an  f/1.7 aperture lens and the sensor has a pixel pitch of 0.8μm. The Nubia Red Magic 3 sports stereo front-facing speakers with DTS:X sound support and is said to feature 3D sound technologies as well.

However, as we mentioned, the 6GB RAM models of the phone will not be made available in India or other global markets.
