The next LG flagship smartphone is expected to be showcased at an event on August 7 in New York.

A new alleged image of LG’s next flagship smartphone, dubbed as the Optimus G2, has surfaced on the web. The new image blurry, but still manages to give a decent idea of what the successor to Optimus G smartphone looks like.

As per the leaked image, the smartphone does not have physical buttons – in line with last round of leak that revealed on-screen buttons. On the rear, the smartphone has the main camera with LED on the right along with ” ” and “-” buttons. These buttons are believed to be related with camera functionalities but nothing is confirmed so far.

The LG Optimus G2 is believed to serve as the basis of the next gen Nexus smartphone – like the Optimus G is for the Nexus 4. LG, however, has said it won’t launch the Nexus 5, but reports say the phone is already in the works.

The LG Optimus G2 is likely to feature a 5.2-inch full HD display with 423 ppi density. The recent leaked benchmark results show the phone is powered by a quad-core Snapdragon 800 chipset and 2GB of RAM. It is likely to sport 13MP camera along with Optical Image Stabilization.
