Lenovo has confirmed that it will launch the Z1 smartphone on May 10. The company made the announcement via its social media pages and said, “Announcing the World's first Crowd Sourced Product Launch where YOU take center stage to launch the #LenovoZ1.” The Lenovo Zuk Z1 was launched as the Zuk Z1 in China in August last year. Lenovo confirmed that the Z1 will come with CyanogenMod 12 in India. This would not have been possible earlier as Cyanogen Inc had an exclusive partnership with Micromax, hence the delay in bringing the smartphone to India.
The Lenovo Zuk Z1 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display and is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 SoC with 3GB of RAM. At the back of the device is a 13MP primary camera, while at the back is an 8MP camera. The phone is equipped with 64GB of storage and a 4100mAh battery. The battery of the Z1 also has a feature wherein the power can be cut-off as when needed. For example, when the phone’s battery reaches 100%, the device starts to run on the power from the charger and not from the battery. This helps save the battery’s micro-cycles. Lenovo has also said that it is allowing users to unlock the bootloader without losing the phone’s warranty. The phone is expected to be priced between Rs. 14,000 and Rs. 18,000.
