Grand Theft Auto VI pre-orders went live on 25 June, finally giving fans concrete answers after years of delays and speculation. Rockstar Games has confirmed pricing, editions, platform availability and other details that had been the subject of rumour for months. With a 19 November release date now locked in and pre-orders open across PlayStation, Xbox and select physical retailers, there is a lot to keep track of. Below, we have answered the most common questions being asked about GTA 6, covering everything from pricing and pre-order bonuses to platforms, performance and the inevitable scam warnings that come with a launch this big.
The GTA 6 Standard Edition costs $79.99 globally, while the Ultimate Edition costs $99.99. In India, the Standard Edition is priced at Rs 5,999 and the Ultimate Edition at Rs 7,499 and pre-orders are officially live. This is higher than the $69.99 most AAA console games have settled on in recent years, though it falls short of the $100 some analysts had predicted earlier this year.
The Ultimate Edition includes everything in the Standard Edition plus exclusive vehicles, weapons, apparel and customisation options woven into the story, along with two side missions not available in the Standard Edition. It also unlocks access to five shops gated behind the upgrade, including a vehicle mod garage, an off-road customisation shop, a salon, a tattoo parlour and a clothing store. Rockstar has confirmed that Standard Edition owners can upgrade to Ultimate after launch if they change their mind.

Anyone who pre-orders or purchases either edition before 20 November receives the Vintage Vice City Pack, a set of 1980s-themed cosmetics inspired by the original GTA: Vice City. This includes a ’55 Vapid Stanier sedan, a dedicated garage on Ocean Beach, retro outfits and hairstyles for Jason and Lucia and a weapon skin referencing Tommy Vercetti. Digital pre-orders also include one free month of GTA+.
No. The physical box will contain a download code rather than a disc, a decision that has disappointed some fans and collectors. Rockstar has not ruled out releasing an actual disc version at some point after launch.
Yes. Digital pre-orders can begin pre-loading from 12 November, a week ahead of the 19 November launch. Physical copies will also be available from 12 November to support the same pre-loading window, even though players will not be able to actually play until launch day.
Not yet and Rockstar has not announced one. Past GTA releases have typically included a Collector’s Edition with physical memorabilia, so it remains possible one could be revealed closer to launch, but this is currently speculation rather than confirmed information.
GTA 6 launches exclusively on PlayStation 5 (including PS5 Pro) and Xbox Series X and Series S. There are no current plans for a Nintendo Switch 2 or previous-generation console version.
No. The base PS5 and Xbox Series X/S will run the game with standard Performance and Quality modes to balance frame rate and visual fidelity. The PS5 Pro is expected to offer additional visual enhancements, but it is not required.
No GTA VI PC release date has been announced. Based on the gap between console and PC releases for GTA V and Red Dead Redemption 2, a PC version is expected roughly 12 to 18 months after the console launch, though this has not been officially confirmed.
The game takes place in the fictional state of Leonida, built around a modern-day version of Vice City, alongside other locations including the Leonida Keys, the Grassrivers and Port Gellhorn. Rockstar’s own framing of the story follows protagonists Jason and Lucia described as being forced to rely on each other after “an easy score goes wrong,” landing them in the middle of a criminal conspiracy across the state.
No. GTA 6 launches as a single-player-only experience. A next-generation version of GTA Online is expected eventually, but Rockstar has not announced a timeline for it and it will not be part of the initial launch.
This has not been confirmed. GTA V never received the story DLC fans wanted at the time and Rockstar has not said whether GTA 6 will be different in this regard.
As of now, no. GTA 6 has been delayed multiple times since its original announcement, including a shift from an initial May 2026 target, but Rockstar has confirmed the 19 November 2026 date is locked in. A fire incident at Rockstar North earlier this year raised concerns about another delay, but the studio confirmed it remained operational and that development was unaffected.
There is no early access to GTA 6 for anyone, regardless of which edition is purchased; everyone gets access at the same time on 19 November. Scam websites have been circulating fake “VIP early access” or beta key offers, often requesting payment in cryptocurrency. These are entirely fraudulent and players should not engage with any offer claiming to provide early access to the game.
