Cupertino-based tech giant Apple released iOS 27 a few weeks ago. On the iPhone 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max running on iOS 27, several users experienced a Face ID bug, which the company is now fixing by rolling out iOS 27.0.1. According to Apple’s release notes, the update brings “bug fixes for your iPhone” and lists three fixes.
The release states the update fixes a bug because of which the iPhone 18 Pro and iPhone 18 Pro Max may “unexpectedly restart” if Face ID “fails to authenticate” the user. This bug was widely reported on social media platforms such as X (formerly called Twitter), Facebook, Instagram and more. The company had announced earlier that an update would be released this week to fix the issue.
The update also fixes an issue where a coloured “artifact” may appear in images shot at 2x under certain lighting scenarios at f/1.48 aperture on a select batch of iPhone 18 Pro series devices.
Further, the update fixes an issue that causes the screen to become unresponsive when the Notification Center and Control Center are opened simultaneously. The company has not specified the models on which this fix applies. But we can expect this fix to apply to all iPhones.
While Apple has not revealed the comprehensive list of changes, iPhone users can also expect fixes to a few unlisted issues across iPhone models. Additionally, Apple released iPadOS 27.0.1, visionOS 27.0.1, watchOS 27.0.1 (for more Apple Watches), macOS Golden Gate 27.0.1 and iOS 26.7.1 and iPadOS 26.7.1 updates, among other updates on September 28.

Users can go to the ‘Settings’ app on their iPhones. Then navigate to ‘General’ and open the ‘Software section’ and then check for the iOS 27.0.1 update. You can either choose ‘Update Now’ or ‘Update Tonight’ from the options to update your phone.
