HIGHLIGHTS

Huawei’s annual Developers Conference will take place this weekend.

The company is expected to showcase its HongMeng OS along with the Android based EMUI 10.

Features of EMUI 10 are still a mystery.

Huawei’s annual developer conference is all set to kick off this weekend and if information circulating on the internet is to be believed, then the company is going to show off its own HongMeng OS along with EMUI 10 which is based on Android. EMUI 10 is expected to ship out of the box with the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro smartphones. Most major EMUI releases are shipped on top of the latest Android OS. Android Q has been announced but there is no official word on a release date or name. None of the features of EMUI 10 known either.

Huawei started developing the Hongmeng OS after the US put the Chinese tech firm on the Entity List, barring all US-based companies from doing business with Huawei. This meant that Huawei won’t be able to use Google’s Android OS on its phones, and, hence, it started to develop its own mobile operating system. Last week, Huawei Chairman Liang Hua said the company preferred to use Google’s Android operating system for its mobile devices and Hongmeng OS is a part of Huawei’s “long-term strategy”. Coming to the Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro, the smartphones will debut later this year. Like every smartphone in the Mate series, the Mate 30 devices will attempt to break new ground in the smartphone industry. Based on a tipster’s information on Twitter, the Huawei Mate 30 series will retain the square camera module on the back, only this time, the company could install not one, but two custom-made 40MP cameras on the back.
