For a while now, there have been several leaks and rumours about Apple’s upcoming iPhone 18 series. The latest one comes from a Weibo-based leaker, Instant Digital, who claims that the iPhone 18 Pro Max could be the heaviest iPhone Apple has ever made. According to the leak, the iPhone 18 Pro Max will keep the same 6.9-inch display size as the iPhone 17 Pro Max, but its body will be slightly thicker. This change could push its weight past 240 grams, possibly reaching around 243 grams. For context, the iPhone 17 Pro Max weighs around 233 grams. If the leak is true, that would make the iPhone 18 Pro Max 3 grams heavier than the iPhone 14 Pro Max, which currently holds the title of Apple’s heaviest phone.
Over the years, Apple’s Pro Max models have seen several shifts in materials and design. Starting from the iPhone XS Max at 208 grams, each generation has fluctuated in weight as Apple experimented with new materials like stainless steel, titanium, and aluminum. The iPhone 15 and 16 Pro models became lighter because of the use of titanium, but Apple then switched away to aluminum for the iPhone 17 Pro lineup.

While the leaker didn’t specify a reason behind the thickness of the iPhone 18 Pro Max phone, it’s believed that a larger battery could be the main cause, reports MacRumors.
As always, these details remain unconfirmed until Apple officially unveils the iPhone 18 lineup, expected to launch in fall 2026. But, if this leak is accurate, the iPhone 18 Pro Max could set a new record as Apple’s heaviest iPhone yet.

Meanwhile, Apple has reportedly decided to delay the launch of its next-generation iPhone Air after disappointing sales of the first version. The iPhone Air 2 is now expected to launch in 2027. The 2026 lineup will likely include two key products: the iPhone 18 Pro and Apple’s first foldable iPhone. The standard iPhone 18 and a new budget-friendly iPhone 18E is expected to launch later in 2027.
