Elon Musk’s satellite-based internet service, Starlink, is gearing up to start operations in India, and the company has now revealed the official pricing details for potential customers. Starlink India’s official website offers a clear picture of what users can expect in terms of monthly costs, hardware charges, and features when the service becomes available. In India, Starlink’s residential plan is priced at Rs 8,600 per month, and users will also need to purchase a hardware kit, which will cost Rs 34,000. While these are the confirmed prices for individual users, the company has not yet announced its Business plan prices for India.
When compared globally, Starlink’s rates vary by country. In the US, the Residential Light plan costs $80 per month (about Rs 7,200), while the standard plan is $120 per month (about Rs 10,800). In Dubai, the residential plan costs AED 300 per month (about Rs 7,300), and the hardware kit is AED 1,500 (around Rs 36,800). Starlink says its service is built to work reliably even in harsh weather, and provides almost 100 per cent uptime. This makes it especially useful for areas where broadband or mobile networks are slow or unreliable. Another advantage for customers is the easy setup process: users can plug in the equipment and get online quickly. The company also offers unlimited data and a 30-day trial period, which gives customers time to test the service before fully committing.
The company already received a five-year licence from the Department of Telecommunications (DoT) in July to operate satellite broadband services in India. However, the official launch date has not been announced yet, and the Starlink coverage map still shows approval pending for India. Meanwhile, the company has been hiring new employees for roles in payments, accounting, and tax for its Bengaluru office.
