Samsung trolls Apple over iPhone Duo launch, says it is ‘reheating our leftovers’

Apple has finally entered the foldable smartphone market with the iPhone Duo, but Samsung was quick to remind everyone that it has been in the category for years. Soon after Apple unveiled its first foldable iPhone, Samsung took to X to poke fun at the new device. The iPhone Duo was one of the biggest announcements at Apple’s ‘Surprise and Shine’ event. Samsung trolled Apple and said it was “reheating our leftovers.” Duolingo also joined the online banter.

Samsung started trolling Apple even before the iPhone Duo was announced. As Apple introduced the iPhone 18 Pro, Samsung Mobile US posted on X, “So far, so same” along with the hashtag #ItsTimeToSwitch. Samsung followed it with another post, “It’s feeling very familiar. Is this a Sims sequel…” Samsung wrote.

Samsung then turned its attention to Apple’s foldable phone. Before Apple unveiled the iPhone Duo, Samsung posted, “Making us wait? Fine. We’ll be over here, folding 3 ways.” The post referred to Samsung’s Galaxy Z TriFold, which features a three-panel folding design. 

Once Apple finally showed the iPhone Duo, Samsung had another message ready. The company posted, “Let us know when you’re done reheating our leftovers.”

Duolingo also joined the conversation. The language-learning app’s mascot is named Duo, giving the company an easy way to joke about Apple’s choice of name.

Duolingo posted on X, “They named a phone after me and made it bend over.” Meanwhile, Samsung also posted, “I’m so sorry, @DuoLingo. They copied us too #Solidarity.”

Apple iPhone Duo specs, price in India and more details

The iPhone Duo features a 7.6-inch inner Super Retina XDR display and a 5.4-inch outer display. Both screens support up to 3,000 nits of peak outdoor brightness. Under the hood, the phone runs on the A20 Pro chip, and is said to offer up to 31 hours of video playback on the inner screen and up to 44 hours using the outer display. For photography, the iPhone Duo houses a 48MP Fusion main camera and a 48MP Fusion ultrawide lens. .

The iPhone Duo starts at Rs 2,99,900. Pre-orders open on October 16, with sales beginning October 23 in more than 70 countries, including India.
