With temperatures rising across the country, many people are depending on air coolers and ACs to get relief from the heat. Air coolers are cheaper to buy and consume less electricity than ACs, making them a popular choice during summer. However, simply buying a cooler is not enough to keep your room comfortable.
If your air cooler is not cooling properly, the issue may not always be with the machine itself. Small changes in placement, airflow and maintenance can make a big difference in how effectively it cools your room. Here are some easy ways to improve your air cooler’s performance during the summer season.
Air coolers work best when they get a constant flow of fresh air. Unlike ACs, they use evaporative cooling, which means hot air from outside helps the cooler create cool air. For better cooling, place the cooler close to a window or balcony. Keep the window slightly open so the cooler gets enough airflow, but avoid opening it too much as that can let excess hot air into the room.

Proper ventilation is very important for an air cooler to work efficiently. If the room is completely closed, humidity can build up and make the room feel uncomfortable. Keep one side of the room slightly open for airflow while ensuring the back side of the cooler faces fresh outside air.
Water plays the biggest role in how well an air cooler performs. If the water level is too low, the cooling pads will dry out and the cooler will stop giving cool air. Check the tank regularly and refill it whenever needed.

Many modern air coolers now come with a separate ice chamber. Adding ice cubes can help reduce the air temperature faster. You can add fresh ice once or twice during the day for better cooling.
Cooling pads collect dust over time, which affects airflow and cooling performance. Before switching on the cooler, make sure the pads are properly wet and clean. Regular cleaning and maintenance can improve cooling efficiency and also increase the lifespan of your air cooler.
