Jio has recently launched the JioTag 2, which is the second generation of its Bluetooth tracker which is a direct competitor to Apple’s AirTag 2. While both the devices are built to help the users find everyday items like keys, wallets, and bags, they are different in several ways. Whether it be phone compatibility, tracking technology, battery life, durability, and price. Though these differences look small, they can affect which tracker is the better choice, depending on the smartphone you use and the features that matter most to you. Here is a detailed spec-based comparison of the JioTag 2 and Apple AirTag 2.
The JioTag 2 offers cross-platform support since it works with both Google’s Find Hub network on Android phones and Apple’s Find My network on iPhones. It makes this gadget versatile in tracking accessories for those users who are from different ecosystems. You can use it with both Android and iOS devices.
In contrast, Apple AirTag 2 is designed to operate solely within the Apple ecosystem and works only when connected to the Apple Find My network. You can only use it with iOS or iPadOS.

The JioTag 2 uses only Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) for tracking. In simple words, it just depends on nearby Bluetooth devices to help locate the tag. The device can not be used to locate an item precisely.
Whereas the Apple AirTag 2 uses both Bluetooth Low Energy (BLE) and the second-generation Ultra Wideband (U2) chip. The U2 chip provides more accurate location tracking and precise finding when used with compatible Apple devices.
In terms of tag volume, the JioTag 2 is much louder than the competition. The buzzer can be heard from afar due to its ability to make noise up to 120 dB.
On the contrary, the Apple AirTag 2 has a better speaker than its predecessor and provides a volume level of about 85 dB.
Another feature that separates JioTag 2 from others is its durable body, which includes the keychain hole and polycarbonate materials. Moreover, the JioTag 2 has IP64 certifications that protect the tag from water splashes and dust.
However, in the case of Apple AirTag 2, it consists of a plastic disc top and stainless steel bottom. Also, the fact that it has an IP67 classification means that it is also waterproof for 1 metre in 30 minutes.
The JioTag 2 houses a replaceable CR2032 battery and includes a spare battery in the box. The battery is claimed to last between 8 and 12 months. The Apple AirTag 2 also uses a replaceable CR2032 battery. However, it does not include a spare battery in the box. Reports suggest its battery can last for up to two years.
The JioTag 2 was launched with a price tag of Rs 1,249 and is available in three different colour options, notably black, green and red. The Apple AirTag 2 is priced at Rs 3,790 and is only available in a white colour option.
