Google is making video creation easier and more accessible with its AI-powered video tool, Google Vids. Since last year, Vids has been available only to Workspace customers, but it’s now rolling out to free users as well. Google Vids helps to create polished videos quickly, and the latest updates make it even more powerful.
Google Vids already allows users to generate short AI videos with sound using Veo 3. A new image-to-video feature lets teams transform photos into eight-second videos with sound using simple text prompts. This is ideal for animating product images, stock photos, or visuals for presentations, marketing, and social media content.

Another major addition is AI avatars. Users can write a script and have an avatar deliver the message. For those recording their own videos, Vids offers automatic transcript trimming to remove filler words and awkward pauses, reducing editing time. Features like noise cancellation, background options, filters and appearance settings will also be available soon.
Google has also launched a new “Vids on Vids” instructional series. It shows best practices and demonstrates features like AI avatars, voiceovers, animations and more. “Our series covers a typical video workflow, so you’ll learn things like: how to use Vids recording studio, how to plan your video story using AI, and how to utilize animations and transitions to keep viewers engaged,” the tech giant said in a blogpost.
