Google is preparing for one of its biggest technology events of the year as the company gets ready to host Google I/O 2026 on May 19. The annual developer conference is expected to focus heavily on artificial intelligence, Android updates and smart devices that could shape how people use phones and computers in the coming years. This year, the spotlight is likely to stay on Gemini, Google’s AI platform that is now becoming a part of almost every Google product. Along with software announcements, the event may also bring updates on Android XR smart glasses and a new laptop platform called Googlebooks. Google I/O 2026: Event date, time and location

Google I/O 2026 will begin on May 19 and continue till May 20 at the Shoreline Amphitheatre in California. The keynote presentation will start at 10 AM PT.

For viewers in India, the main keynote will begin at 10:30 PM IST on May 19. The event will be livestreamed on YouTube and Google’s official I/O website. Users who miss the live session will also be able to watch recorded presentations later.

Google I/O 2026: What to expect

Google is expected to showcase the next version of Gemini during the event. Reports suggest the updated AI model could become faster, smarter and better at handling everyday tasks. Google may also introduce more ‘agentic’ AI features that can complete actions on behalf of users, such as organising files, managing apps or helping with daily work.

Android 17 is also likely to receive major attention during the keynote. The company has already released beta versions of the operating system, but more features are expected to be revealed at I/O.
