HIGHLIGHTS

Google I/O will take place on May 10, 2023

Devices like Pixel phones, earpods, tablet launches are expected

Android 14 Beta version will be launched at the event

Google I/O 2023, Google's annual developer conference is all set to take place on May 10, 2023 at the Mountain View's Shoreline Amphitheatre. The event will begin at 10AM PT (10:30 PM IST).

Google I/O 2023 promises to be huge, as it is about to unveil and flaunt everything that's coming with Android 14 and other bells and whistles from the search engine giant. Google CEO Sundar Pichai will definitely showcase how well the company is doing and the way it has taken a leap towards AI, and a greater amount of focus on devices that are expected to be launched at the event. Now let's look into what awaits at Google I/O 2023

Google Pixel 7a launching at I/0 2023

The Google Pixel 7a is definitely getting launched at this event, according to several rumours, and it will be quite budget friendly as compared to other Pixel phones. The company also tweeted about a device that they'll be launching exactly a day after I/O. It looks like this device could be Pixel 7a. But the name hasn't been mentioned as of yet.

Pixel Tablet incoming as well

We can also expect the Pixel Tablet launch at the event too. This tablet was announced at last year's conference and has been much anticipated since. So, it can be expected to have a grand launch at the Google I/O. Also, this tab is expected to give a good competition to the iPad as well. Will it be better than the OnePlus Pad? Let’s wait and watch.

Pixel Fold to be revealed too?

Another device which has been in everybody's mind is the Pixel Fold range, Google’s foldable phone. It has been in talks since 2018, and it would be a good time for Google to bring its long-awaited foldable phone to the party.

Some other hardwares that have been rumoured to be released at the event are Google/Nest AirTag, Pixel Buds and Pixel 2. These aren't certainly confirmed yet and are only rumours at this point.

Android 14 to be revealed

Android updates are expected to be another major highlight of I/O. Hence, Android 14 is expected to be launched at the Google I/O, but it will majorly be the beta version first and will take some time to reach everyone. This operating system is called Upside Down Cake internally and it is expected to reach all Pixel users by late July or August 2023.

Google Bard and other Google AI initiatives

This was about hardware and operating systems, but let's now come to AI. It's literally everywhere. Particular generative AI (Bard) will make an appearance at the conference. A lot of Google applications will be impacted by it, majorly Gmail Docs, search and Chrome.

That’s what we know so far, we'll get to know more only on May 10th. So, this was a fair list of what we can expect and as Google hasn't confirmed anything much, some of the above devices may not make an appearance as well.
