Google I/O 2026 is only about a month away, with the two-day event scheduled to kick off on May 19. Before the developer conference, the tech giant plans to host The Android Show: I/O Edition 2026. The pre-I/O event is likely to focus more on features meant for everyday users rather than developers. This will be the second year in a row that Google will be using a dedicated Android show to highlight consumer updates, while keeping more technical discussions for the main I/O sessions.

Android Show: I/O Edition 2026: What to expect

In the YouTube description, the company wrote, ‘This is going to be one of the biggest years for Android yet. Tune in to The Android Show | I/O Edition on Tuesday May 12 at 10 AM PT and be the first to take a look at what the future holds.’

If we see last year’s event, the Android Show 2026 will likely bring announcements around design updates, new features and deeper AI integration. Last year, Google introduced Material 3 Expressive and expanded Gemini to more platforms, along with features like scam detection.

So, while the Android Show will focus on user-focused announcements, the main Google I/O 2026 event is expected to cover developer-centric updates.
