The incident has also raised concerns among the customers, with some reporting suspicious messages and phishing attempts after the breach. The users on online forums claimed that they got fraudulent communications, including messages impersonating hotel staff and redirecting them to fake websites in an attempt to extract sensitive financial information. The company has also stated that the situation is now under control.
However, Booking.com has not confirmed if the payment data was compromised, but the affected users have been advised to remain cautious. Experts suggest closely monitoring financial accounts, avoiding suspicious links and verifying communications only through official channels.
