Rockstar Games has finally broken its silence on the GTA 6 leaks, just days before fans are set to get an extended look at the highly awaited game. After clips showing alleged gameplay and story scenes spread online, questions grew over when the developer would respond. Rockstar has now acknowledged the leaks, calling them heartbreaking for the team and saying this was not how it wanted players to see the game. The company also apologised for the wait for official updates and promised to exceed expectations with a special extended presentation arriving this week. Rockstar Games has recently posted on X via its official account where they have finally acknowledged the leak and have shared a message for the fans. The company said the leaked footage had been ‘heartbreaking’ for the team working on GTA 6. The developer also said the leaks were ‘not how we intended for you to see the game after all this time.’

The company acknowledged that fans had been waiting for a response and apologised for the lack of official updates. It also warned that the leaks may have affected the intended experience for players by revealing spoilers.
However, Rockstar has also thanked the fans who sent messages of support during the past week. Addressing that, the company said that their words had meant more to the team than they could imagine. Take-Two Interactive, the parent company of Rockstar Games, has also started legal action over the leaks in a New York court.
The GTA 6 extended look will premiere exclusively on Netflix on August 27 at 3 PM ET. However, the Indian viewers will be able to enjoy it on August 28 starting at 12:30 AM. Fans will need an active Netflix subscription to watch it during the first six hours.
But those who are waiting for a free option will not have to wait much longer, as after the Netflix-only window ends, the same extended look is expected to be released for free on Rockstar’s official YouTube channel and the Grand Theft Auto VI website. The free release is expected at around 6:30 AM on August 28.

Though Rockstar has addressed the leaks and discussed the extended look, the company has not revealed exactly what will be shown. Still, the title suggests fans could see much more than another short trailer.
GTA 6 gameplay is likely to be the biggest focus, potentially giving players a clearer idea of how the game will look and play. The extended footage could also explore Leonida, the fictional state inspired by Florida, including its cities, environments and activities.

Jason and Lucia are expected to remain central, with more footage potentially showing their partnership, missions and character switching. Combat could also feature shootouts, car chases and other action sequences.
Rockstar may additionally showcase activities outside the main story, highlighting Leonida’s detail and liveliness. GTA 6 is expected to launch on PlayStation 5 and Xbox consoles in November.
