Activision and Beenox have confirmed the launch of The Amazing Spider-Man 2 videogame alongside the motion picture of the same title.

Activision has officially confirmed  that ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ videogame will be launched alongside the Sony motion picture of the same title come Spring 2014. The game is being developed by Beenox, the same game studio behind the original ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’.

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 is a third person action-adventure video game, which follows the events of its predecessor with a different take on events of the forthcoming movie, while also giving Spidey an enhanced free-roaming experience through the vastly expanded New York City.

“The first ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’ game gave players their own beautifully animated, free-roaming city of Manhattan to traverse and explore – a playground of majestic scale in which to live out our common hero fantasies,” said Thomas Wilson, Co-Studio Head of Beenox. “And the overwhelming message from fans was: ‘MORE!’ That’s what our team is working toward with ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2’ – we’re giving gamers more abilities, more upgrades, more challenges, and more freedom to progress. And with the game launching alongside the new movie, offering an expanded interactive experience beyond the film, fans of the franchise won’t want to miss playing it.”

The Amazing Spider-Man 2 offers more freedom and engaging opportunities to put Spidey’s skills to the test. It will also feature the new ‘Hero or Menace’ system, which eventually impacts your Super Hero behaviour by rewarding ‘Spidey’ for his crime fighting efforts, and has severe consequences for ignoring crimes and letting bad guys go unscathed. Players can expect additional features like additional upgrades to web-swinging, more dynamic up-close and personal combat along with new challenges.

The Amazing Spider Man 2 is scheduled for launch alongside the feature film for the PS4, PS3, Xbox One, Xbox 360, Wii U, 3DS and Windows PC in Spring 2014.
