When you go out on a weekend trip, a birthday party, a movie outing or a dinner with a group of friends, splitting costs often leads to confusion about who paid and who still owes money. Many people end up using separate chats or apps to keep track of expenses. Paytm has launched a new feature called Split Bills to tackle this issue. With Split Bills on Paytm, users can record group expenses, calculate everyone’s share and settle payments, all in one place. The feature is available on the Paytm app and is free to use.
With the new feature, friends can create a group and add all shared expenses in one place. Users can choose to split the bill equally among everyone or divide it by exact amount, percentage or shares.

The group summary shows how much the group has spent, how much each person owes, pending balances and recent activity. This makes it easier to avoid confusion when multiple people are paying for different things during a trip or outing.
Users can send payment reminders directly through the Paytm app. Those who need to pay can settle the amount using Paytm UPI, with the payment details already filled in. If someone pays outside the app, the payment can also be marked as received to keep the records updated. Another useful feature is that users can add expenses even if they were paid using cash, cards, another UPI app or any other payment method.
Paytm says there is no limit on the number of expenses users can add, and there are no additional charges for using the feature.
