Spotdraft is aiming to build the future of how legal teams work

They are trying to reduce manual coordination and administrative contract overload.

The product manages everything from simple queries to global expansions.

In an ever-evolving world, where most tasks have been automated thanks to AI, the country’s legal space is still lagging. Whether it’s startups or even large corporations, sorting out paperwork and legal contracts remains a major pain point for them. Though it looks like we finally have a player who is looking to solve all these problems.

At the India AI Summit 2026, I stumbled across SpotDraft, which is a platform that helps businesses sort out their paperwork, helping to make the entire process smooth. Be it the legal, sales, or HR teams, the company claims that it can help businesses in the creation, review process, signing, and storing contracts faster.

I got a chance to speak with Mr Shailesh, Head of APAC Business at SpotDraft, at the India AI Summit and had a very insightful conversation with him. Let’s take a look at how the company is moving legal work from manual paperwork into the digital future, making the process super smooth.

To start, I wanted to understand what SpotDraft does and what exactly they offer the market. Well, Mr Shailesh gave us a deep dive into how their processes work.

He first of all explained that, “Spodraft is primarily a SaaS company, and what we are doing today is we are building the future of how legal works” As per him, the company “solves for this entire thing by creating, an operating system for legal teams specifically wherein they can take care of majority of their work which is around contracts.”

As per him, the company provides a single platform where businesses can manage everything from a simple query, like asking if you have publicity rights with a partner, to massive projects, such as launching big operations in any different country as part of a major expansion. The main aim here is really that they want to make the actual onboarding of a contract easier.

How does AI come into the picture?

Given how often AI is thrown around as a buzzword in the market these days, I wanted to understand how exactly SpotDraft is using AI to power its services. To which Mr Shailesh gave an interesting reply.

As per him, the company does not follow any hype cycle, and that’s because legal work is sensitive in nature. He explained that humans are held responsible for a contract because AI can’t be held responsible. Therefore, we they use AI as an “assistant” that helps enhance the work, while the ultimate decision-making stays with the professional user.

Giving a deep dive into the tech, Mr Sailesh explained that they use a multimodal system. As per their research, it was found that using different LLMs gives better results when multiple tasks need to be handled. He explained that while one LLM is used for searching and finding specific information in a document, the other LLM processes that information to deliver the final result.
