The DualSense maybe a hit but the PS5 isn’t without its woes

While we in India still don't have a release date for the PS5, a lot of gamers out there have got their hands on the next-gen offering from Sony. The PS5 was launched in the US and a few other markets on 12 November with a wider, global launch scheduled for 19 November. But, not everyone is having such a great time with the PS5. In the past few days since the launch of the PS5, users have had a litany of issues plaguing the console. To be fair, it is only the first batch of consoles and first adopters will usually bear the brunt of faulty consoles with issues that even engineers at Sony could not have predicted. It’s definitely understandable that some users are mad at Sony, but them's the breaks. 

We’ve listed down the major issues plaguing first adopters of the PS5 below. Do keep in mind that this is a small sample size, and we’re literally only focusing on the negative here, but if you were going to buy a PS5, wouldn’t you want to know any and every issue with the console? So, let’s see what problems the PS5 has at launch. 

There is an entire thread dedicated to various issues that plagued and continue to plague a few PS5 users. 

• There have been minor reports of a DualSense connectivity issue as well. Users have reported that unplugging the controller while it’s updating causes it to not connect to the PS5.
• Some users have also reported that they were having problems connecting to the PlayStation network as well. Users were not able to connect to PSN and were not able to download games either.
• Using the rear USB ports or LAN cable for data transfer have also been causing a few issues for users as well.

The issues mentioned above are rather minor and can usually be solved by resetting the PS5 to factory settings or redownloading and installing the update in question. The issues mentioned below are the more major ones, causing games to crash and more. 

• Users are complaining that they’re getting a 108255-1 crash/error report when playing Assassin's Creed Valhalla (PS5 version), although no issues have been reported on the PS4 version. Users have also reported a more severe CE-108262-9 which happens when games crash, the system fails to boot up or of the UI is laggy or buggy. From what we can see, you may have to contact Sony if this error pops up.
• A few users have reported a ‘Rebuild Database’ bug that seems to be doing a number on a lot of consoles. From what we can tell, when trying to boot up a PS4 game from the external harddrive, the bug will sometimes cause the console to power down and state that the database is corrupt and will need to be rebuilt. Following the onscreen prompts usually rectifies the problem but even then it’s very disconcerting to see an error message pop up on a brand-new console.
• Rest mode has also been reported to have crashed the PS5 and could even brick the console. Apparently, using Rest Mode on the PS5 will cause problems so it’s best to avoid using it until the error has been patched.

Again, while we in India wait with bated breath for a launch date for the PS5, it looks like the Xbox Series X and Series S have been pretty much sold out in India. At least on Amazon and on Flipkart. You can read more about that story here.
